BASIC 3D PRINTER TROUBLESHOOTING & UPGRADES

Basic Troubleshooting

There may come a time when your printer does not work as intended. This can be frustrating, but it helps to know some troubleshooting tips. For instance, you may find that when the filament is extruded onto the hot bed, it may not stick properly. This is one of the most common issues you will encounter. The most common cause of this issue is the print bed not being properly leveled. For manual leveling, check out the video below. This can be done easily with a piece of paper as a gauge of closeness between the print head and the print bed.

Upgrades

The sound above can be a very annoying sound to have. Luckily, there are upgrades that can help mitigate this issue. They make silent driver boards that will reduce the noise of the stepper motors on the machine. Other upgrades to help with this are quiet fans, which can replace noisy fans. With the open-source nature of 3D printing, almost any part can be replaced or added to improve functionality. For non-auto leveling printers, you can add an leveling probe that will help the printer account for leveling issues and help provide a more even print. Belts, gears and even print heads can be replaced to make the printer more efficient, as well as replace broken parts. You can even 3D print upgrades for your printer!
